The following tests were performed by Mr.Andrew
Alles, R & D and Safety Director, J.V. Manufacturing Company,
manufacturers of the Spilfyter Product Line. The object of
the test was to determine if a 1.5 cu.ft. (30lb) bag of Oil
Sponge, Remedial, would absorb at least 18 gallons of 40w
SAE Oil.
*In the lab, Mr Alles measured and weighed
10ml of 40W SAE Oil. The 10ml of Oil weighed 8.56 grams, or
0.856 grams per 10ml.
1) 18 gallons of Oil millilitres is (18 gal).(3.785l/gal)(1000mi/l)=68,130
ml
2) 18 gallons of 40w SAE Oil, weight
in grams
(68,130ml)(0.856g/ml)=58,319.28 grams
*Mr Alles tested the absorbency ability of
"Oil Sponge" Remedial using ASTM standards. The
results indicate this product will absorb 6.61 to 7.31 times
its own weight in 40W SAE Oil.
3) 1.5 cu.ft. bag of "Oil Sponge"
weighs 30lbs.
30 lbs. of "Ross Eliminator" in grams is( 30lbs)(453.592g/lb)=13,607.76g
4) Amount of 40W SAE Oil absorbed (6.61x)
(6.61)(13,607.76g)=89,947.29g
5) Amount of 40W SAE Oil absorbed (7.31x)
(7.31)(13,607.76g)=99,472.73g
*Since 89,947.29g and 99,472.73g is greater
than 58,319.28g of 40W SAE Oil, a 30 lb. Bag of "Ross
Eliminator" Remedial ,could absorb 18 gallons or more
of 40W SAE Oil.
*Other results indicated the following absorbency
amounts of "Ross Eliminator" Remedial for these
petroleum products:
